Every artist and studio has a preferred preparation routine. Ask whether they permit numbing products, when they want the product removed and whether they have any concerns about the area being tattooed.
Share relevant information
Tell your artist about allergies, skin reactions or anything else that may affect the appointment. For personal medical advice, speak with a doctor or pharmacist rather than relying on social media or product reviews.
Clarify aftercare before you start
Make sure you understand the studio’s aftercare guidance and know who to contact if you have questions after the appointment. Preparation and aftercare are separate steps; do not reapply a pre-appointment product to broken skin unless its approved label specifically directs it.
